Yes, you can organize a small, simple, and impactful community event that takes a lot less effort than an annual fundraiser! First choose your timing - do you want your event to serve as a campaign launch, mid-way milestone, or final countdown? You can also do more than one, for example a kick off and a final countdown push.
Next decide what your agenda should be. You could coordinate something around the theme of your campaign and invite other thought leaders to have a panel discussion. Or have one of your clients join to share how donor support has impacted their life. You can also just invite people to a casual social hour with snacks and drinks!
When you choose your venue, think about inviting people to your office or ask a community partner to host. It doesn’t have to be a special location and often your community loves to see where you work!
Providing some light snacks and beverages is always nice. You can host about 50 people with wine, beer, and light snacks for about $200, or ask a sponsor to support the event.
Make sure to give a clear call to action during the event to donate. Have some laptops set up ready for folks to give and print out small info flyers. Most importantly, have fun!
