Donors love videos. It doesn’t matter if you shoot something on your phone - it’s about creating a piece of content that is easy to consume and inspiring to watch. Edit on something like iMovie, make cuts within the video app, or use an online service like Magisto. Here are a few tips and inspiration:
- Two most important elements of your video: audio and stabilization. Use a simple tripod or set your elbows on a table before filming. Find a quiet space with little echo to ensure good audio
- The story: focus on client success testimonial or have colleagues share what inspires them. This doesn’t have to be huge production value - just meaningful to you and your donors
- Editing: if you’re less familiar with editing, use simple cuts on your mobile device. If you’d like to include some branding or more advanced editing iMovie is an easy program to use on a Mac or use online program Magisto.com for any computer.
Don’t forget the CTA: Always make the call to action for donors at the end
Video production can also be a great way to involve your community in your campaign. If you have a donor champion who knows a thing or two about video, ask them to help out! It will get them more invested in the campaign and hopefully save you time.
