We recommend sending at least two updates once the campaign ends through the update feature in the HandUp dashboard. The first should be within a day or two of campaign end that expresses gratitude for the donors’ support. Something general usually works, for example:
“Thank you for all of your support throughout this campaign! We raised $5,678 that will support transportation needs for our clients - everything from bus passes to car repairs, barriers that are necessary to overcome to reach stability in their lives. Stay tuned to learn more about how we put your donations in action soon”
In about 4 - 6 weeks, it’s a great to time share some specific impact through the dashboard updates. This doesn’t mean you have to distribute all the donations or create a full impact report. If you have one, choose to share one great success story. You can also send an update that shares a halfway point of progress. An example of a small win to share:
“We wanted to share a special story where your support made a huge impact in a homeless neighbor’s life. John, who’s been homeless for 3 months, received a housing opportunity about 30 minutes outside the city. To make the move, John needed to cover at least one month of public transportation to make it to and from work every day. With your donations, John purchased a monthly BART pass and is now living in his very own home! Thank you for making this possible and helping a neighbor in need move from the shelter into a home.”
You can send as many updates as you’d like over time and donors will appreciate knowing how their contributions are making a difference.
